Make Colored Sand or Salt for Sand Paintings

Things you need:

• Salt or white or natural colored sand
• Food coloring
• sandwich bag or paper cups  (you'll need 1 for every color you want to make)

1. Divide sand or salt between plastic bags or cups 
2. Add food coloring
3. Seal plastic sandwich bag
4. Shake until color is thoroughly mixed
5. Mix food colors to create custom colors

This is a great project for teaching color blending:

It's fun to mix colors and see them "magically" change colors.

Blue + Yellow = Green
Blue + Red = Purple
Red + Yellow = Orange

Yellow, Blue and Red are primary colors
Orange, Purple, Green are secondary colors
