Homemade New Year Noise Makers
You will need:
Heavy decorative craft paper, should resemble cardboard
5 colorful buttons per noisemaker
Tongue depressor/popsicle stick
String
Glue
Hole punch
Scissors
1. Start by cutting out two circles from the craft paper. These circles should be the same size. If you don't have craft paper, use cardboard and decorate the circles in whatever style you like.
2. Take the tongue depressor/popsicle stick and smear both sides of the topĀ half with craft glue. Put glue on one of the circles as well. Place the stick in the center of one circle and place the other circle on top of the stick. The stick will be glued between the two circles of paper.
3. Now cut 5 lengths of string, about 4 inches long.
4. Tie each button onto a piece of string.
5. With the hole punch, punch five holes around the edges of the cardboard circles.
6. Tie the pieces of string to the holes you just punched. You will now have a circle with five pieces of string sticking out around the edges, each string has a button on the end.
To enjoy your new noisemaker, hold the stick end of the toy in your hand and twist back and forth. This will make the buttons spin on the end of the string and whack the cardboard making celebratory new year noise.
